Hard water can reduce equipment efficiency and life for industrial and commercial applications ranging from restaurants to boiler and cooling tower pretreatment. Problems associated with hard water can be minimized by using a water softener which exchanges troublesome calcium and magnesium ions with sodium which is less soluble and does not precipitate out of solution to form scale.
